LiveSmart BC: Programs for You
The "LiveSmartBC" line of programs have been around for a few years now. Tens of thousands of British Columbians and their small businesses have taken advantage of different funding opportunities during this time, and we are encouraging you to do the same!
To learn more about specific funding opportunities available to you or your small business, please visit the newly designed Incentive & Rebate Programs menu page.
Basically, there are two main ways to receive funding:
(1) Energy Retrofits on your Home
(2) Small Business investments in Energy Conservation
1. LiveSmart at Home
In partnership with BC Hydro and FortisBC, the Province of British Columbia extended and improved its popular LiveSmart BC: Efficiency Incentive Program, where homeowners can receive more than $7,000 in rebates for energy saving improvements and equipment beginning on or after April 1, 2011.
Homeowners are provided with rebate money after successfully increasing their home's energy efficiency through retrofits and equipment purchase and installation.
Energy efficiency acheivements are qualified by certified energy audits.
2. LiveSmart at Work
The LiveSmart BC: Small Business Program is also available in B.C. supporting energy conservation and efficiency.
The program contains four components:
Business Energy Advisors - BEAs are available to visit eligible businesses and work directly with them to identify potential energy and money saving opportunities, including lighting, hot water, heating and ventilation improvements
Direct Install - this component coordinates and funds 100 per cent of the cost to install select products such as energy efficiency lighting and lighting controls and pre-rinse spray valves to conserve hot water in commercial kitchens (available in specified regions of the province)
Enhanced Product Incentives - this component enhances the value of rebates that eligible businesses receive when using the BC Hydro Product Incentive Program for energy efficient technologies including lighting, refrigeration, and commercial cooking equipment.
LiveSmart Champion Program - the newest component features up to a total of $550,000 in funding, with a maximum amount of $25,000 to any one applicant. This is an open call for businesses to develop innovative ways to conserve energy in their specific sectors.
