Carbon Neutral Action Reports: Health Authorities and Affiliates
B.C.’s six health authorities have demonstrated how they can achieve more by working together. The Health Authorities pulled together the Provincial Environmental Technical Team. The Team advises the B.C. Health Authorities Service Delivery Committee, providing information and recommendations regarding environmental planning matters for the B.C. Health Authorities.
2009 Highlights from this sector:
- 93% of health authorities and affiliates are posting materials online that were previously printed
- 73% are providing shower or locker facilities for staff/students who commute by foot or by bicycle
- 67% are establishing an energy performance baseline for owned buildings
- 67% are installing web-conferencing software

Many public sector organizations already have existing sustainability reporting mechanisms that provide significant detail on their programs, so the Carbon Neutral Action Reports were designed to meet regulatory requirements without requiring duplicate reporting.
