Carbon Neutral Action Reports: Government of B.C. – Ministries and Agencies
The B.C. Government began taking action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in early 2007 by developing a Carbon Neutral Program under Shared Services B.C. Given its role as a shared service provider with responsibility for buildings, fleet, information technology, procurement and supplies, the Ministry has the expertise to identify and implement organization-wide programs to reduce energy and product consumption.
2009 Highlights from this sector:
- 100% of ministries and agencies are installing web-conferencing software
- 100% are installing power management software which shuts down computers outside of regular business hours
- 100% are encouraging commuting by foot, bicycle, carpool or public transit
- 100% are creating green, sustainability, energy conservation or climate action teams with executive endorsement
