Save on Taxes at Home
Through LiveSmart BC, most ENERGY STAR appliances and products and a number of energy-efficient products are PST free at the point of sale. This is an instant savings to you as a reward for making the climate-smart choice to be more energy efficient.
These savings include sales tax exemptions on:
- Gas-fired water heaters with an energy factor of 0.80 or greater;
- eligible wind-powered, solar-powered or micro-hydro powered generating equipment, including solar photovoltaic collector panels which can also be used for heating/hot water;
- ENERGY STAR-qualified appliances, including residential refrigerators, clothes washers and freezers;
- water tank, pipe and ductwork insulation;
- weatherstripping, caulking, and window insulation;
- energy-efficient home heaters;
- ENERGY STAR windows, doors and skylights; and
- ENERGY STAR qualifed home-heating equipment.
