Victoria Transformational Lecture Series: Barbara Campagna

Barbara Campagna, the Chief Architect of the National Trust, will discuss the National Trust’s Sustainability Program and how the 29 historic sites of the National Trust are integrating historic preservation values with green building practices – from green housekeeping techniques to sustainability master plans to LEED certification for historic rehabilitations. The lecture will take place in the Antechamber at Victoria City Hall. The lecture series is hosted by the Cascadia Region Green Building Council.

Tremendous potential exists for implementing energy efficiency opportunities, however all too often a lack of funds limits the number of projects that get realized. The Energy Efficiency Financing workshop will show you how to: calculate the financial value of energy efficiency projects; use tools to build your energy efficiency project business case; present an effective business case to senior management; understand the basics of third-party financing mechanisms such as energy performance contracting; and analyze an energy project from an internal financing or a third-party financing perspective, using take-home software. Governors' Global Climate Summit

Environment Minister Barry Penner joined more than eight U.S. states and representatives from 11 countries at Governor Schwarzenegger's Global Climate Summit in Los Angeles, California. The Summit featured a video-taped address from President-Elect Barack Obama and the signing of a joint declaration agreeing to pursue collaborative action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create opportunities to grow green economies.

Premier Gordon Campbell spoke at the opening of the GLOBE 2008 Conference and Trade Fair, which brings together 400 leading environmental and clean energy technology firms from around the world. The firms represent more than 80 countries in North America, Europe and Asia – including 95 from B.C. Taking place every two years in Vancouver, this year marks the 10th edition of GLOBE.
